Area Rug Cleaning
Per-square-foot pricing based on your rug's material — synthetic, wool, shag, and more. Add multiple rugs to a single appointment and get an instant estimate without picking up the phone.
- Area rugs trap 5–10× more soil per sq ft than wall-to-wall carpet
- Backing materials hold moisture, odors, and allergens out of sight
- Improper cleaning shrinks wool and dissolves latex backing
- Professional extraction restores pile height and texture
Rates Based on What Your Rug Is Made Of
Different materials require different cleaning methods. Our rates reflect the time, chemistry, and care involved for each fiber type.
Synthetic
Polypropylene, Polyester, Nylon, Olefin
Machine-made synthetics are the most common area rug type. Durable and easy to clean with hot water extraction.
Blended / Indoor-Outdoor
Cotton-Poly, Jute-Synthetic, Sisal Blends
Blended construction rugs require adjusted cleaning methods to avoid shrinkage or fiber distortion.
Wool
Hand-Tufted, Machine-Woven, Flat-Weave Wool
Wool rugs require pH-neutral detergents and careful moisture control. We pre-test every wool rug before treatment.
Shag & High-Pile
Shag, Flokati, Cut-Pile Loops, Frieze
Deep pile traps significantly more soil than standard rugs. Extended agitation and extraction time is required.
Silk Blend / Heirloom
Silk-Wool, Viscose, Art Silk, Persian-Style
Delicate fiber composition and hand-knotted construction require specialized low-moisture care. Call to discuss before booking.
Add-On Services
Targeted enzyme treatment applied to individual stains before main cleaning.
Enzyme-based decontamination that neutralizes urine salts and odor from the backing up through the pile.
Odor-neutralizing treatment applied after cleaning for a lasting fresh scent.
Post-clean protectant application that reduces future staining and makes maintenance easier.
$49 minimum applies per appointment. 10% discount for veterans, seniors 65+, and first responders.
How We Clean Area Rugs
Area rugs are not carpet. The fiber composition, backing construction, and dye types require a tailored approach for each rug. Our technicians inspect every rug before selecting cleaning solutions and methods.
We identify the fiber type (synthetic, wool, silk blend) and test an inconspicuous area for colorfastness before applying any chemistry to the full rug.
Surface soil, pet hair, and grit are thoroughly vacuumed from the pile side and the backing to prevent re-soiling during wet cleaning.
A material-appropriate pre-treatment is applied to heavily soiled areas and any targeted stains. Enzyme treatments are used for organic soils and urine.
Low-pressure hot water extraction safely flushes soil and pre-treatment residue from pile and backing. Wool and delicate fibers receive a low-moisture process.
Air movers accelerate drying. The rug is inspected on all sides before we wrap up and the final result is reviewed with you.

How to Measure Your Rug
Measure the longest side of the rug in feet — this is the length.
Measure the shortest side — this is the width.
Multiply length × width to get square footage. Enter both in the calculator and it handles the math.
The pricing calculator lets you add as many rugs as you need — each with its own dimensions and material type. Bundle multiple rugs or combine with carpet cleaning for maximum value.
